Can Hannah rescue Grayndler from Albo?

Ranter has high hopes that Hannah Ferguson can confront the congenital timidity that's defined Albo PM and failed Grayndler. 

Right now, Grayndler’s progressive energy is wasted. Albo's given us four years of timidity in the face of unprecedented challenges. Sure, he’s streets ahead of the coalition and One Nation. In 2026, not being Dutton isn’t enough.

Grayndler is one of Australia’s most progressive electorates. Our representative, who also happens to be the Prime Minister, left his one-time progressive cred at the Lodge door. I remember activist Albo (some recall him as “hot Albo”) at Sydney Uni in the early 80s. He was in all the student battles. I didn’t know him. But you couldn’t miss him. A little dose of 80s Albo wouldn’t be a bad thing. 

We need a federal representative who shares our values and is ready to fight for them. The people of Grayndler have a unique opportunity to bring change to Labor and the government. We shouldn’t waste it. I’m betting Hannah Ferguson is the person to do it.

The planet is facing so many crises at once - you don't need me to list them. Australia has its own set of unique challenges.  Albo offers little more than perfunctory lines and tinkering. 

Albo doesn’t want to have conversations about our challenges. He’s busy doing podcasts with Karl Stefanovic, playing shag, marry, date and cooking with Annabelle - oh and occasionally telling us to “dial down the temperature” - while he fiddles.

In 2026, you’re more likely to get progressive policy ideas out of independents in seats formerly held by Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull, than Albo’s Labor Party in Grayndler. Nearly all the good things happening in federal politics right now are being driven by community independents like David Pocock, Monique Ryan and Allegra Spender. The Greens are doing some good stuff too.  Grayndler deserves better.  And I reckon Hannah’s got the goods.

Hannah’s also got entrepreneurial smarts sorely lacking in parliament - especially among progressives. She can add youth, depth and refreshing ideas to the community independent landscape.

One of the most appealing things about the community independents is their focus on the boring stuff of democracy. If you’re not including issues like whistleblower protections, lobbying, corruption, donations reform, defamation and media reform in your programme, you’re not serious. Albo’s DOA NACC encapsulates the spirit of his democratic reform agenda.

Hannah faces a Herculean task running against a sitting PM. But it's a fight worth having. Even if we only end up with a better, more progressive version of Albo, Hannah’s campaign would be a success. And she’s young enough to be planning for 2031. Go Hannah - win or lose we'll be better for the fight.
